About Me

My photo
Angus, Ontario, Canada
I am a Canadian artist, who has been known to paint realistic wildlife and abstract paintings. Most of my paintings and ideas are inspired by nature. I spend most of my time in the northern wilds of Canada. When looking at trees I tend to see people in their shapes. On an average day I will sit and imagine how an old tree might be thinking in the way it has shaped itself over time. Some of my paintings are a result of these imaginings.

Evening Glide

This painting was a huge learning experience for me. I wanted to show movement and reflection in the water, but without reference to the surrounding landscape. This made it very difficult because water doesn't have color, it only reflects the color that surrounds it. When I added reflections in the water of things from the waters edge that were out of sight in my painting it tended not to make sense and didn't look very realistic. So I started my reflections from the ducks and worked my way out. I think I accomplished what I set out to do. It so happens that I've written a short poem to go with it.

Evening Glide
Days light is growing dark and dim,
soon natures night song about to begin,
rippling water slow and calm,
it reflects the passing of days dawn,
together we share the final sigh,
out for a stroll on an evening glide.

  1. This is an incrediable piece and the words are very fitting. When I first seen this is person I thought for certain this was a photograph and insisted it had to be.. when I got up close and personal it was very hard to see the difference but yes it was an actual painting. You amaze me and this is a wonderful painting that really speaks to you and you get lost in it,
